Rome Completes Sweep With 4-2 Win Over Legends

The Rome Braves scored four runs in the top of the first inning and then held on for a 4-2 win over the Lexington Legends Wednesday night.  The victory gave the Braves a sweep of the three-game series.

Connor Lien led off the game for Rome with a single, and Johan Camargo drew a walk.  Sean Godfrey doubled to right field, scoring Lien and sending Camargo to third.  Camargo came home on a wild pitch, and after Jake Schrader struck out, Ross Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Godfrey.  Carlos Franco drew a walk, stole second and scored on a single by Connor Oliver, giving Rome a 4-0 lead.

The Legends answered with a run in the third inning on a walk to Alexis Rivera, a double by Alfredo Escalera and a run-scoring ground out by Carlos Garcia.  The final Lexington run came in the fourth inning when Humberto Arteaga put down a squeeze bunt to score Dominique Taylor from third base.

Rome starter Tyler Brosius (5-7) got the victory.  He worked seven innings, allowed five hits and two runs, walked two batters and struck out five.

Legends’ starter Pedro Fernandez (1-7) took the loss.

The Legends remain at home for a four-game series against the Greenville Drive, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.  Game time Thursday night is 7:05 p.m.
